FD seeks ‘young blood’
7.07.2014Foster Denovo, the national firm of financial advisers, is on a recruitment drive – again. This time, the company is looking to recruit more youngsters into the industry.
Last year the national financial adviser joined forces with the University of Northampton to assist students on a financial services degree. This was a new degree within financial services and was aimed at qualifying young people for work in retail financial services.
The firm also runs its own internal academy, supporting younger advisers and employees to develop their careers through a training programme.
Darren Laverty, sales and marketing director for Foster Denovo, said: “There are reportedly around 20,000 financial advisers in the UK, a worrying statistic, when compared to – on average – 140,000 accountants and 150,000 solicitors.
“The time has come for companies across the sector to look at recruiting in new blood.”
Paul Hurley, head of professional development and competence, added: “The work that we have undertaken with Northampton – so far – has shown there is a real interest for young people to be part of our industry.
“On graduation the industry now needs to take over the responsibility of the university and assist these young people to find a role in it.”
