Helen Lovett, on choosing a career fuelled by energy and opportunity
25.03.2025Our Chief Operating Officer (COO), Helen Lovett, discusses with FT Adviser how she didn’t just choose financial services – she chose a career driven by energy and opportunity.
In Helen’s interview, she shares insights into her professional journey and the challenges women face as they navigate the great wealth transfer.
Helen says, “I was not happy at my first job after university – in fact I was bored. I spoke to a recruiter who told me about a business that was growing wildly, with big ambitions.
The recruiter assured me that there would be lots of opportunity to develop and that I would definitely not be bored. That was General Portfolio – and he was right”.
Helen also discusses her role at Foster Denovo and her passion. “As Chief Operating Officer at Foster Denovo, I look after our private wealth and Secondsight advisers, client service teams, marketing, technology, HR, compliance (I am SMF16 – which is so much more inspiring than I expected it to be), recruitment and our investment division…..
My day is full of line management and project management – as it always has been. The projects I run are now more challenging and involved, and the people I manage are more senior and experienced.
It feels that finally, we have an opportunity to make people’s jobs easier and more interesting.
I love innovation – and am much better when I am involved in something new”.
